Small 5 door hire cars
This range of rental vehicles are small cars but have five doors, which gives them a significant advantage over the 3-door models and makes them more suitable for those travelling with more than one passenger. Examples of cars in this group include the ever popular Vauxhall Corsa. These are easy to drive, have good fuel economy, and are not hard to park.
All cars in this group will have manual transmission, but similar sized cars with automatic transmission are also available from most car hire companies. Automatic cars are usually more expensive to hire, but sometimes the difference between the rental rates is not great and if you are not used to shifting gears it may well be worth paying the extra. For those arriving from abroad, remember that you will anyway have to get used to driving on the left in Britain, with the steering wheel being on the right, and you may prefer not to have the added complication of shifting gears!
Small hire car, usually five doors. Slightly more space than a group 01 hire car because of the extra doors. Excellent car for up to two adults, two children and a limited amount of luggage. Fine for 4 adults doing short journeys.
