Southampton Airport only has one terminal, there is an excellent rail service to Southampton Airport so many people don't actually hire a car from the airport, they take a train for the first leg of their journey.

By Car, transportation to and from Southampton International Airport is fairly easy. Southampton Airport (Parkway) Station is situated approx 50 metres from the Airport terminal, with several trains running every hour to London Waterloo and fast links other destinations via Intercity rail. Southampton is southeast of the airport, by road, follow signs for the M27 motorway. Driving will take about fifteen to twenty minutes to the city center. Winchester is about ten miles away and Portsmouth about twenty. London is approx seventy miles on the motorway.

If you decide not to rent a car in Southampton but to take a Taxi from the airport, the journey time to Southampton is fifteen to twenty minutes by car. The airport taxis are called Aircars at Southampton.

Alternatively rail travel from Southampton is excellent. Southampton Airport Station is 50 metres from the airport terminal. The journey time to Southampton is 7 minutes. London Waterloo station takes approx one hour. Other destinations from Southampton airport station include Reading, Weymouth, Bournmouth, Fareham, Portsmouth, Poole, Birmingham, Coventry and Oxford. There is a railway departures information desk in the airport concourse.
