108 years old, Tower Bridge is an enduring image of London. Although the river traffic
is far less than it was, the bridge is still opened for river traffic several times a week -
careful not to drive your London hire car across!! The London Bridge Experience offers the
opportunity to climb the towers, and view the River from the glass sided walkways, some 140
feet above the Thames.
The Tower of London
Dating from Roman times (with some parts still visible) as a fort the Tower has always had a
strategic importance at the entrance to London. The actual Tower itself dates from the time
of William The Conqueror, and within the castle were a prison, the Royal Mint, a Zoo and
the home of the Crown Jewels. You can see the Crown Jewels including the The Imperial State
Crown, set with the 530 carat Culinan I, one of the largest cut diamonds in the World.
Trafalgar Square, London
Built amongst the fine Regency architecture it is one of the most famous Squares in the
World. Nelsons Column is in the centre of the Square and the National Gallery is on the
north side. The square itself has traffic around it and is arguably the centre of London.
Subsequently it gets very busy so make sure you know where you are going in your car hire.
Nearby is Covent Garden, a centre for eating out, shopping and of course the Opera.
Buckingham Palace, St James's Park and Piccadilly Circus are all in close proximity.
The London Eye
The British Airways London Eye was opened to celebrate the new Millennium and is now on
the tourist trail. At 135 m high it is the Worlds largest observation wheel, offering fine

Buckingham Palace and over to Canary Wharf in the East . On a really clear day Windsor
Castle, some 25 miles away can be seen.

'The Mother of all Parliaments' is more formally known as the Palace of Westminster. The

1834, leaving only Westminster Hall and one of the Towers. The present Houses of Parliament
were rebuilt between 1840 and 1888. Big Ben, the clock tower, was cast in 1858 and is a
landmark of London. Public access is allowed in certain areas but the best view is from
Parliament Square or from the Embankment is from driving around in your hire car.
